Jon Barnes gave the 2014 specification Caterham R300 its test and race debut in Portugal this weekend and he claimed pole position and all 4 race wins in the process!
With warm sunny conditions and daytime temperatures reaching around 20 degrees, Estoril was the perfect location for testing out the new 2014 spec Avon ZZR tyres as well as the new R300 itself.
The car and tyres performed faultlessly in practice and qualifying, with Barnes claiming pole position by over half a second to head the forty-plus cars on the grid.
Barnes then steered the R300 to four comfortable 35 minute race wins. This was even more impressive for the new car and tyres, considering that all four of the races were run back-to-back, with less than 5 minutes between each race!
